Polytechnic institutions have a strong focus on Indigenous skills and training, meeting learners where they are by redefining educational pathways to create inclusive spaces reflecting Indigenous narratives, cultures and practices. BCIT Indigenous Vision: A Framework for Action and Accountability
The introduction of BCIT’s Indigenous Vision in 2019 reaffirmed the institution’s 25-year commitment to the enrolment and success of Indigenous learners. With a clear, bold vision for the future, BCIT aspires to be the first-choice post-secondary institution for learners in BC, with well-developed pathways to support Indigenous learner transition to and from the institution and by actively embedding Indigeneity across its campuses. Humber Student Exchange with the University of Otago
As part of the Global Polytechnic Alliance (GPA), Humber and the University of Otago in New Zealand have initiated a global exchange program for Humber students. Each year, Humber funds a group of Indigenous students to participate in the program, which includes courses on Biculturalism and Environmental Sustainability, as well as opportunities to learn about the culture and experiences of the Māori people.
